Redmanna

Dessert Platter ($28.90)

Twice Cooked Kangaroo Wrapped in Prosciutto, Sweet Potato Mash, Drizzled w White Chocolate Olive oil ($39.90)

This was a really beautiful dish, I have not really eaten kangaro very much at all, but I loved the flavour of these pieces of meat. And the variety of textures and flavours found in the rest of the dish were really good compliments to the roo, and sweet potato mash will always win me over!!

Chickpea Chips w Garlic Aioli Dip ($9.50)

These we got to explore the strange idea of what chickpea cips actually were. When they first came out they were really nice! The contrast between the gooey insides and the crisp outside layer is one of the best sensations experiences when eating! But as the chips cooled, thier pizazz waned a little as they got progressively soggy and the flavour changed a little to become more bland. These were a really interesting idea to explore but I wonder if they were perfectly executed.

Panned & Ovened Duck Breast Glazed w Manjimup Truffle Honey & Hazelnuts, Duck Pate & Chocolate Foam ($42.90)

This was an amazing, amazing dish! reading through the ingredients, we figured this would either be amazing beyond belief, or really horrible. Boy, were we rewarded by the chefs at Red Manna, this was like an adventure for the taste buds! Trying to understand what you were tasting (be it perfectly seasoned duck, or an overwhelming flavour of chocolate) and enjoying the textures of crisp duck skin, hazelnuts and foam, thsi was an exciting dish!

So yeah, our difficulty deciding really did not end with mains (will it ever!?). So after watching about 5 of the dessert platters ($28.90) go out during our meal to other tables, we caved (with not much help from our waitress) and jumped head first into the heaven that is 9 different desserts! As ours came to rest on our table, a couple leaving stopped and told us we had made a very good choice, we could not wait to get started!!

Red velvet cake, Creme brulee, Panna cotta, Chocolate case with strawberry icecream.

I’m not the most massive fan of Panna cotta, but everything else was amazing on the top layer! Perfect crispy topping to the mini brulee’s and the strawberry icecream tasted so real!

Sticky date, Camembert, Cheesecake with raspberry and passionfruit, Chocolate and White Chocolate Mousse, Fresh Cream.

Everything downstairs was to die for as well. The cosy, filling sticky date was so moist, while the cheesecake was so light and fruity, the texture of the mousse was perfect (not a grain in sight) with the cream a perfect break from rich flavour overload (There is a story about my grandmother, myself and a big bowl of cream at a tea room in the Queen Vic Building in Sydney which may explain that my love for fresh whipped cream will never die)

This was a completely gluttonous night! But there were no regrets when we handed over the card to pay for our extensive (and expensive) meal. Red Manna is a fabulous restaurant, to be enjoyed sparingly.
